Whitsunday Islands Activities

Whatever your heart desires, if it has to do with life on, in or near the water, you will find it on one of the islands that make up the collection known as the Whitsunday Islands.

Those who come here, come because you love crystal clear, aquamarine waters, pure white sandy beaches and all the activities that go along with both.

You probably love hobbies such as scuba diving, kayaking, fishing, snorkelling, yachting, golf courses, backpacking through or overnight camping on uninhabited native islands.

You may also be interested in taking magnificent under water photography, whale watching or just spending a day strolling along the magnificently breathtaking beaches.

And if those activities are not enough to keep you interested, how about going to a Day Spa to be pampered, charter a yacht or 40 ft luxury race cruiser, take a boat tour – with semi-submerged glass bottoms so you can view the incredible marine life, including the large array of coloured coral. If your budget does not allow the yacht or sail boat rental, take a boat tour or cruise around the islands.

Do any or all of these activities catch your attention? Each island has a variety of activities and a different level of facilities that may or may not be available while visiting that island. Make sure you educate yourself on what each one offers. If you plan on taking one of the ferry shuttles or boat trips to get to one of the islands, be clear on when and where the pick up and drop off locations are going to be. Tides determine when the watercraft can make their way across the sea from one location to the next.

Figure out the things you want to do and then scope out the perfect island to carry out your plans. Closest to the mainland is Daydream Island. Day visitors have a short ride from Shute Harbour. The highest point on the island contains a small, dense jungle inhabited by parrots and tiny sunbirds that love the tropical vegetation.

The outcropping of coral and vast marine life makes snorkeling, diving, kayaking, sailing and jet-skiing some of the more frequently sought after activities on this Spa island. Hot summer temperatures and warm winter temperatures make this an ideal location to start your Whitsunday holiday. Of course, you can always stay on the island instead of going into the water and enjoy volleyball, tennis, mini-golf or croquet on the beautiful grounds.

Lindeman Island is best suited for adults, as it does not offer child minding services and offers rather sophisticated living style. The island has multiple bushwalking tracks to lead you to the most scenic part of the island.

Visit this website a bit more in order to discover so many more activities and accommodations throughout the islands. We believe that once you visit, you will want to come back again and again. Just do not forget the sunglasses and sunscreen; you are going to need them both!
